Biography

Marc Roberts has been writing songs since he was ten years of age & always had the burning desire to perform.  While learning his craft in all the pubs, clubs & hotels in Ireland, Marc concentrated on his songwriting.  At an early age his peers recognised his talent when in 1995 he was selected by IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) on the first ASCAP songwriters trip to Nashville, Tennessee in the prestigious company of Jimmy MacCarthy, Mick Hanly, Charlie McGettigan, Eleanor McEvoy & Sinead Lohan.  His performance at the ‘Bluebird Café’, songwriting mecca, was a resounding success & an appearance on the Pat Kenny TV show ‘Kenny Live’ followed.

In 1997 Marc came to international prominence when he represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest & came a credible second with “Mysterious Woman”.  Marc’s first self-titled album was released shortly after & he toured extensively throughout Europe & appeared on all the top TV shows in the UK.  Three more albums followed.  “Meet Me Half Way”, “Once in your Life” & his current album “The Promise”.

All of his albums are collections of self penned, co-writes & covers. The albums, establish Marc as a writer of classic songs. They are rich in emotional depth and bursting with heartfelt sentiment. They are songs of love and the politics of personal relationships. They trail through the trials and tribulations of life, offering hope and inspiration. Marc’s songs mirror our own life and times.

Marc has also become a mentor to his showbiz pal Daniel O’Donnell, guiding and encouraging the superstar to become a songwriter. Realising that Daniel’s turn of phrase had a lyrical quality, Marc coaxed him into co-writing songs with instant success. The fruit of their partnership had led to several O’Donnell/Roberts songs appearing on Daniel’s recent top-selling albums including entry into the Top 30 UK singles charts & album charts.

Marc has been carving out a lifestyle as a live performer, singer/songwriter and even finds time to host a popular afternoon radio show on Galway Bay FM.  The radio show is a ‘feel good’ music programme & transports the listener to a three hour oasis of calm in the afternoon.

And the journey continues……
